The History of the Park Theatre...

The Park Theatre is the largest log cabin theatre on the North American Continent & was designated as a Heritage Building in 1995.

The Park Theatre was built in the 1930's, a period of time, in which employment and funding was hard to come by. Although, the theatre like many other log structures, recieved funding & labour, from the Emergency Relief Funding, provided by the Government. Built during the winter of 1936, it officially opened on August 9th, 1937.....making The Park theatre over 75 years old!!

Most of the logs were hand cut and sawed at Kippon's Mill.

Mr.Kaare Bow was the foreman of the original construction crew, which consisted of 8 Scandanvian men. They mostly used axes, straight & crooked drawknives for cleaning and grooving the logs, and a scribe for marking.
